Day 5: Banana's Are Delicious

Today turned out to be a fairly smooth day.  No flats, great weather, fairly short day,  and we spent a lot less time lost than in previous days; all in all a pretty good day. We arrived to Kitsap Memorial State Park early in the afternoon and we were able to explore the small park before settling down.  It was really nice to sit on the beach and listen to the waves and the frigid waters did wonders for our achy muscles. As hard as we may try, it is difficult to peel ourselves off of our sleeping pads in the morning and get going as early as we would like.  Our muscles are somewhat sore but not terribly.  What seems to be holding us up most in the morning is simply breaking camp.  Currently we are slower than cold molasses.  In camp this morning, there was another couple that was up half an hour after us and on the road easily an hour before us.  I am sure eventually we will have this down to a science but this morning I blame Bigfoot for rudely awakening Julie and keeping us up.  The back story on Bigfoot goes as follows; After setting up our tent Matt found a penny tails up and said "Oh no, we have to move our tent. A penny tails up in front of your tent means BIGFOOT is coming." So yes, in the middle of the night my paranoid self thought I saw someone or shall we say Bigfoot walk through our campsite at 3:45am.  Needless to say we didn't get much sleep thanks to that unlucky penny or as my dad would call it "The curse of the Torres." Apparently the only luck a Torres has is bad luck.  :-)

Matt's sunburn!  It looks much worse in person.

This is home for the next couple of weeks.

My two favorite people!

Corn Chowder on a cheese bagel.  A hot, delicious, (okay mainly hot) meal.

The clouds denied us a beautiful view of the Olympic Mountains.

Sunset over Hood Canal.

A delicious crab I happend upon while wading around.
