Day 20: All good things must come to an end.

Jet, adventure-explorer-whale watcher.

This morning we reluctantly got up out of the warm bed, said our goodbyes and hit the road south. We are nearing the halfway point and it was to be our last full day in Oregon.  The destination for the day was Gold Beach.  The road was more or less flat or at least nicely graded, but we ran into a new difficulty that we had not yet experienced in the last three weeks.  We had trouble getting motivated after enjoying the last day living in the lap of luxury.  The idea of returning to living out of a tent was not an appealing notion.  To bad because there is still a long road ahead of us. Along the road we ran into an older couple, also doing a tour and taking what looked like a quick water break on the side of the road.  As we passed them Matt yelled "Tag you're it.", we all laughed and little did we know a week later they would tag us back. We cycled about 20 miles and then the road directed us to an ocean view where we took a break.  I couldn't shake the luxury we had experienced the past 24 hours and decided to call my dad. He told me that he just watched Diana Nyad complete her 53 hour swim and was thinking about us as well.  He passed on her words of "never, ever give up." Being the amazing dad he is, he lent me more kind words, inspiration and comfort that can not be expressed in my own words. With his words in mind we pedaled on to our next resting place. We walked near the beach that evening and watched our last Oregon sunset of the trip.
