Day 18: Yet another day

Why not?
We left Umpqua Lighthouse State Park and headed for Bullard’s Beach State Park with one thing in mind, Mimi and Aunt Donna are coming tomorrow!!! Seeing family had been our carrot for the past couple of days. Labor day weekend was upon us and we decided that being on the road while people were driving their RV’s for the second time this year, was not a good idea.  We learned early on if we were to every get clipped by a vehicle it would be a local driving like a mad man or an RV.  Usually people who own RV’s (not the retired folks who drive them all the time) only get the opportunity to drive their “beast”  two-three times a year. Anxious to get into Bandon where Mimi and Aunt Donna would meet us the next day, we pedal our little hearts out and covered 48 miles with plenty of the day light left.  Our only trouble that day was a "scenic route" between Charleston and Bandon along a road called Seven Devils road.  The road name alone should have dissuaded use from pressing on along this "scenic route".  The route was hardly scenic and the seven devils turned out to be the names of the each hill that was steeper and hotter than the last.  Slowly but surely, we got to the top to find the trees at the top had been harvested and it wasn't pretty.  The ride down the hill was a great way to dry out sweat soaked clothes and we quite literally cruised the rest of the way into Bullards Beach State Park.  When we got to the state park we set up camp and not too long after Robert cycled in.  He unloaded his gear and offered to get us anything we needed in town. While he headed to town we scoped out the beach.  Matt did some fishing while Jet and I hung out on the beach.  After nearly two hours on the beach we could see some weather moving in so we thought better of it and decided to head back.  True to form, we got a little lost on the way back to camp.  Luckily we stumbled onto our camp right before the cloud’s opened up.  Robert had got us the skeeter swabs we had asked for and to our great surprise and gratitude he had also decided to share his delicious snicker-doodles with use.  We scarfed them after dinner as the rain pelted our tent for better part of the night. The last night before some much needed TLC.
What beautiful clear cuts.

Julie is quiet the fishin' fool.
Jet is quite the little adventurer.

This was one of the small ones.

Thanks for the cookies Robert.
