Day 15: Rain and wind. Just another day cycling the coast.

Jet catching some fresh air on a wet day.
It was 3am when the rain started.  Sleep was hit and miss the remainder of the night knowing we that we would be forced out into the elements in a little more than six hours.  One could hope for sunny skies but the forecast called for a zero % chance of sunshine until after noon.  What do you do? Eat a good breakfast, feign high spirits, and hit the road knowing that you are about to get soaked and are more than likely in for a long, soggy day.  So thats what we did.  Our planned destination was Newport and we had every intention to get there.  We all know what is said about best laid plans.  Mother nature had other intentions for us.  The weather worsened as the morning progressed and our morale nosedived as the wind threw us around like paper kites.  After Julie was blown into the road, we decided it was time to call it a day for safety's sake.  Lincoln City was our forced home for the evening.  Nearly 30 miles short of Newport but it will be there in the morning.
