Ready or not here we come...They weren't ready. |
We started the day with one thing on our mind. Extra Sharp Cheddar cheese; yellow or vintage white, we aint haters. Ask and ye shall receive. Samples galore and don't think we didn't take a few extra spins on the merry-go-round. This place is what cheese dreams are made of. Colby, medium sharp, extra sharp white, smoked garlic, and after that i fell into a cheese coma and take no responsibility for what took place. A lot of good cheese went down that day. We remember them fondly. About midway though the cheese orgy we quickly remembered that we had some cycling to do and it was all business after that. Thanks to our Warm Showers host #2 and their roadway wisdom, we were in Pacific City by noon. 30+ miles in less than 2hours with our bikes loaded, isn't too shabby. We hung out at the beach for a while and Matt was quite nostalgic with the area but couldn't put his finger on it as to why. Turns out his grandmother used to take him to the same beach when he was a youngin'. We headed to the home of our Warm Shower host #3 and were there by 2pm. They were both very sweet and told us to get settled in and dinner would be at 5pm. We picked a bed that was just right and with my favorite furry friend in hand, I passed out while Matt went to explore his old stompin' grounds at the marine gardens. After my luxurious 3 hour nap (the first nap of the trip), Matt returned and we had dinner. A delicious baked pork, homemade bread, salad, fruit and no bake peanut cup squares. We were gratefully full. Victoria and Bob are very active themselves and went to bed early so they could wake up at 345am to work out, talk about dedication. We went upstairs and took the opportunity to catch up on our sleep and dreamt cheesy dreams.

Mmmm, Tillamook! That was one of our favorite stops in Oregon too. We ate lots of cheese samples, mac and cheese, and ice cream. At least you guys "biked it off" when you left, we just sat in a car for a couple hours.
